{"id":22918,"date":"2020-05-28T12:45:34","date_gmt":"2020-05-28T10:45:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ddoptics.shop\/?post_type=glossary&#038;p=22918"},"modified":"2020-05-28T12:49:03","modified_gmt":"2020-05-28T10:49:03","slug":"prism-types-tele","status":"publish","type":"glossary","link":"https:\/\/ddoptics.shop\/en\/fachwort\/prismen-arten-fernlas\/","title":{"rendered":"Prisms - different types in binoculars"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Prisms and prism types for binoculars<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Lenses<\/strong>\u00a0have the property of displaying objects upside down and inverted - therefore the image must be rotated again.<\/p>\n<p>The image created in this way is initially straightened by the prisms and displayed in the correct orientation.<\/p>\n<p>For this purpose, either so-called\u00a0<strong>Porro prisms\u00a0<\/strong>or\u00a0<strong>Roof prisms\u00a0<\/strong>used.\u00a0<strong>Porro prisms\u00a0<\/strong>give the entire binoculars the characteristic\u00a0<strong>Angled shape<\/strong>while\u00a0<strong>Roof prisms\u00a0<\/strong>the binoculars<strong>\u00a0Slim design<\/strong>\u00a0enable.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8768\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8768\" style=\"width: 217px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8768\" src=\"https:\/\/ddoptics.shop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/fernglaeser-arten.jpg\" alt=\"Binocular prism systems\" width=\"217\" height=\"182\" title=\"\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-8768\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Binocular prism systems<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Nowadays, for reasons of space, roof edge glazing in modern designs is predominantly\u00a0<strong>Schmidt-Pechan inverted prisms (on the right of the photo)\u00a0<\/strong>used.<\/p>\n<p>With the DDoptics\u00a0<strong>Nachtfalke binoculars of the HDX series\u00a0<\/strong>and with the binoculars\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ddoptics.shop\/en\/buy\/ddoptics-binoculars-8x56-stalker-gen-3-green\/\"><strong>Pirschler HDX 8\u00d756<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0For performance reasons, DDoptics relies on\u00a0<strong>Abbe-K\u00f6nig prisms (left on the photo).\u00a0<\/strong>These consist of two parts, which can be cemented together or kept at a small air gap.<\/p>\n<p>In the past, when there were no ultra-modern\u00a0<strong>Prism compensation\u00a0<\/strong>prisms were available, these prisms always had to be cemented in order to\u00a0<strong>Transmission losses\u00a0<\/strong>( approx. 9% ), which result from reflections, must be avoided. In particular, these reflections can enter the image as stray light or ghost images.<\/p>\n<p>Today we work with<strong>\u00a0highest quality multilayer coatings<\/strong>. Thanks to this coating technology, it is possible to optimise the\u00a0<strong>Reflection reduced to below 0.2%<\/strong>\u00a0can be used. This makes it possible to dispense with the cementing of the prisms, so that an air gap is created between the two glass surfaces, in which DDoptics, for example, inserts a shading diaphragm.
