Top rifle - Haenel Jäger 10 - not only for the young hunter

Rifle Haenel Jäger 10

The Haenel Jäger 10 - High-quality weapon "Made in Germany"

With the Repeating rifle hunter 10 there is an interesting approach for the Hunters and young hunters. We ordered the Jäger 10 in calibre 308 Win. with synthetic stock, with a Ziegler Kontra Assembly and with a DDoptics riflescope Nighteagle 5-30×50 and took a closer look at the combination.

The Jäger 10 rifle is a lightweight bolt action rifle, equipped with some well thought-out details. The Plastic shaft has a particularly narrow shaft shape, a very light weight and is therefore suitable for small hands and therefore also for huntersvery interesting.

The hunter receives a weapon with this impeccable tool German manufacturing precisionwhich leaves nothing to be desired in terms of quality.

The Jäger 10 is available in the following calibres

  • 7×64
  • 8x57JS
  • .30-06
  • .270 Win.
  • .308 Win.
  • 7mm Remington
  • .300 Win Mag.

The barrel lengths are 565mm for standard calibres and 615mm for magnum calibres

Hänel Jäger 10 - a flawless weapon

All important parts of the weapon are made of high-quality steel and very cleanly finished. With a retail price of around €1,000 - that's a neat thing.

Special (and not self-evident) are the forged system sleeve and the closure. The sleeve is forged and then machined to the tightest tolerances on state-of-the-art CNC machines. The receiver has a cylindrical design with the ejection port on the right. At the rear of the chamber stem there is a straight cut-out for the repeating process

Too bad: After consultation with Haenel, a Left version not yet planned. Perhaps that will change in the future.

Weapon locking as an advantageous modular system

The clever design of the weapon locking mechanism of the bolt in the barrel by means of a separate, integrated component with the bolt lug contour enables cost-effective production of the system case.

System sleeve, chamber stem and closure

The Closure of the hunters 10 has a continuous, uniform outer diameter. It was designed by the engineers in such a way that it is simply assembled from several parts.

It consists of a cylindrical chamber stem body and a Locking head (locking head) with 6 locking wartswhich is pinned to the body. Here again, the right choice of material for the function of the individual parts is simply taken into account. Exactly that lowers again the Production costs und optimised the Weapon characteristics.

The result with the Jäger 10 is a pleasant, smooth repeating action.

Strong locking thanks to 6 locking lugs

As already announced, the bolt head of the bolt action rifle has 6 positive locking lugs with only 60° opening angle. This positive fit is also sufficient for the strongest magnum calibre from.

The only mishap was the Rough pull-out claw, which made it difficult to close the chamber. After the Polishing the claw everything went perfectly.

Successful: The small opening angle of only 60° enables the shooter to Fast repetition.

Modern choice of material: Glass fibre reinforced plastic

The entire magazine box (only 1 part) consists of glass fibre reinforced plastic. The Magazine base and the magazine release are made of the same material.

Glass fibre reinforced plastic was also used for the plastic stock. The recoil is transferred from the receiver to the stock by a stable, transverse steel insert (moulded into the synthetic stock).

The Jaeger 10 security systems

The Trigger safety device is a Clearly visible lever on the side to the rear right of the chamber stem. It has two positions. If the lever is pushed back, the gun is locked and the bolt handle is blocked for opening. When the lever is pushed forwards, the weapon is ready to fire.

In the secured state is the Trigger blocked. However, you can still open the bolt, for example to unload while the safety is engaged. To do this, the small lever under the safety must be pressed down. This releases the blocking of the bolt handle and the bolt can be opened.

There is a catch on the back left of the system sleeve that allows the fastener to be easily removed and reinserted.

The rear, angled contour is elegantly flush with that of the receiver. When cocked, the firing pin indicator protrudes by a few millimetres. This makes it easy to determine whether the firing pin is cocked, even in the dark.

Riflescope mounting and target optics

The Jäger 10 has a Open escape sighting. On the System sleeve are the 2×2 threaded holes for the Mounting a telescopic sight.

In our case, we focussed on absolute repeat accuracy during assembly. Suhler single-hook assembly Kontra from Ziegler used. The Ziegler assembly is a elegant and highly precise dream for a weapon system and fits perfectly with the Jäger 10.

Presumably the Ziegler assembly one of the best mounts on the current Market. She is Quick and easy to install - whole without fitting work - and unrivalled precision.

Here you can see the practical and simple application of the assembly:
